CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 7, 2006
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAKHER P.E., P.W. DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: APPROVE RESOLUTION INCREASING THE PROJECT
BUDGET FOR THE BARTON ROAD BRIDGE PROJECT BY
$50,000.
DATE: MARCH 1, 2006
BACKGROUND:
The Barton Road Bridge Project was initially funded in fiscal year 2001 by Measure I funds. This
project is jointly funded with the City of Grand Terrace whom is the lead on the project. This
project will replace the existing bridge structure with a new 178 feet long and 47.5 feed wide
bridge. This new bridge will include two 12 feet wide driving lanes, shoulders, and a single four
feet walkway. Since this project was originally budgeted at $270,000 it has incurred expenditures
totaling $4,588 since in 2001. As a result of delays experienced during the design phase this project
was unfunded in the fall of 2004 to fund the ongoing Main and Iowa Traffic Signalization Project.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
Recently, the City of Grand Terrace has given the City notice that the project is moving forward
once again. The available funding for this project is currently $10,412. To provide the project the
required funding to complete the design phase staff requests transferring funds from the City Wide
Slurry Seal Project to the Barton Road Bridge Project in the amount of $50,000.
The City Wide Slurry Seal Project will be supplemented with fiscal year 2006/2007 Measure
funds making available a total project budget of $333,184.05 for the 2006/2007 slurry seal project.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
No impact.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Not applicable.
