DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE ATTACHED SALARY RESOLUTION AND JOB <br />DESCRIPTION FOR A STREETIPARKS MANAGER POSITION WITHIN <br />THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT; APPROVE RECRUITMENT AND <br />RATIFICATION FOR ONE STREETIPARKS MANAGER POSITION. <br />DATE: MARCH 13, 2006 <br />During the fiscal Year 2005/2006 mid -year budget process Council action adopted and approved <br />the flow chart representing the Street/Parks Manager position on February 16, 2006. This position <br />will absorb the responsibilities correspondent to the Paries Supervisor and the Public Works <br />Manager job descriptions; the position will be accountable for the Street, Parks and LLMD city <br />crews <br />DISCUSSIONIANALYSIS: <br />The duties of a Street/Parks Manager include but are not limited to: directing, supervising and <br />coordinating the work of city crews undertaking maintenance, repair and construction programs; <br />coordination between the operations of the Street, Parks and LLMD divisions with other <br />departments and outside agencies; estimate project cost including time, equipment, materials and <br />supplies. This position will restructure the leadership within the Street and Parks Divisions and <br />direct both of these divisions to become more program oriented in their work structure. The monthly <br />salary of a StreettParks Manager is $6,512 and $7,910; a salary survey of similar positions was <br />conducted in order to establish this range. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Approval of the Street/Parks Manager job description and salary scale will not have an impact on <br />the General Fund in the current fiscal year. The salary will be allocated to the two divisions and will <br />be absorbed within the approved budgets. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not applicable. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Not applicable. <br />ITEM #10 <br />
