<br /> <br />ITEM NO. <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: BILL SMITH, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: BILL SMITH, CITY MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: DESIGNATE LEAGUE OF CA CITIES VOTING DELEGATE AND <br />ALTERNATE. <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council designate two Members of the City Council to <br />represent the City at the League's Annual Conference & Expo in Long Beach on October <br />16-18, 2024. One Member shall serve as the voting d elegate, and one shall serve as the <br />voting alternate. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />This year, the Annual League Conference & Expo will be held in Long Beach , <br />California, October 16-18, 2024. Per League bylaws, cities are allowed to appoint up to <br />three Council Members to represent their respective city. The Colton representatives that <br />traveled to Sacramento and participated in September 2023 were Council Member Dr. Luis S. <br />González as the voting delegate and Council Member Kelly Chastain as the alternate delegate. <br />The Council Members scheduled to attend this year’s conference are Mayor Pro Tempore John <br />Echevarria and Kelly Chastain. <br /> <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br /> <br />Once the Council selects the designated voting delegate and one alternate delegate to <br />attend the annual League conference, they shall represent Colton in matters affecting <br />municipal or League policies. These procedures assume that the conference will be held in - <br />person at the Long Beach Convention Center as planned. T he names of the two delegates <br />must be submitted to the League by September 25, 2024 . <br />Packet Pg. 10
