CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF .njw 6,, 7006 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: AMER JAKER, P.E.; P.W. DIRECTORICITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORINIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 FOR THE VETERAN'S PARK PROJECT. DATE: MARCH 27, 2006 BACKGROUND: The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) accepted applications for its Tire - Derived Product Grant Program. This grant opportunity made funds available for applicants interested in promoting markets for recycled content products derived from waste tires generated in California. Tire -Derived Products are final or finished products ready for sale to the public that were made from recycled one hundred percent California waste tires. The City submitted an application for the above mentioned grant opportunity as authorized by Council on November 15, 2005. The City submitted the one project proposal request for installation of rubberized field turf at Veterans Park; the grant request was for $100,000. DISC USSION/ANALYSIS: The City of Colton was formally noticed by written correspondence, Exhibit'A', in March 2006 that it was successful in obtaining the requested funding. The originally submitted resolution identified the 'authorized signatory' to be the City Manager. Staff requests the City Manager sign the submitted agreement, Exhibit 'B,' which will encumber $100,000 of the California Integrated Waste Management Board's grant funds for installation of rubberized turf at Veterans Park. FINANCIAL IMPACT: In its submitted proposal the City agreed to provide the proposed project with a one hundred percent match.
