CITY OF COLTON ITEM #9 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF June 20, 2006 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Bill Smith — Community Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Request approval for facility use of Fleming Park and its bandshell on <br />Friday, June 30, 2006, for use by the Community Services Department <br />to host the annual Movie -in -the -Park event. <br />DATE: June 12, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Community Services Department is requesting the use of Fleming Park to host a City "Movie - <br />in -the -Park" Event on Friday, June 30, 2006. A copy of the facility reservation application has <br />been included. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Set up for the event will begin at 6:00 p.m., and the event will commence at dusk. The movie will <br />conclude at approximately 10:30 p.m., with clean-up to continue until 11:00 p.m. The City has <br />hosted this event at Fleming Park for two years previously, to excellent reviews from the <br />community. Expected attendance for this event is estimated at approximately 200-300 people, <br />including adults and children. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Event is budgeted from the general fund, account 100-6200-6214-2301. The total estimated cost <br />for this event is $1500. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Colton Community Services Department <br />Director: Bill Smith <br />Contact: Deb Farrar <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the approval of the facility use for Fleming Park and its bandshell on Friday, <br />June 30, 2006, for use by the Community Services Department to host the annual Movie -in -the - <br />Park event.
