FISCAL IMPACT:
The City will realize a savings of approximately $15,000 over the three year agreement with
TRISTAR Risk Management. The cost for the three year contract is broken down as follows (plus
bill review services charged at 14% of the savings):
2006/2007 $56,746
2007/2008 $58,731
2008/2009 $60,788
The City's current annual cost is $63,800. The new contract requires examiners to have a smaller
caseload (not to exceed 150 per examiner), which allows examiners to devote extra time and
service to the City's workers' compensation claims. The caseload does not limit the number of
claims the City can file.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements
Company Name: TRISTAR Risk Management.
President: Tom Veale
Contact: Laurie Barraclough, Branch Manager
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council award contract for self-insured workers' compensation claims
administration to TRISTAR Risk Management and authorize the City Manager to execute the
agreement on behalf of the City.
Attachments:
Prepared by: Jennifer M.
