ITEM #11
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF July 18,2006
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Director
SUBJECT: Consider Approval of Use of Fleming Park for Colton First Assembly of
God on Saturday, July 29, 2006
DATE: July 10, 2006
BACKGROUND:
The Colton First Assembly of God has submitted a request to use Fleming Park and its band -shell
for a theater play on Saturday, July 29, 2006. The event is scheduled to proceed from 10:00 a.m.
until 8:00 p.m., including set-up and clean-up time.
DISCUSSIONIANALYSIS:
Fleming Park should provide an excellent venue to host such an event, and has successfully
hosted such events previously. Expected attendance is estimated at approximately 200 people,
including adults, teens and children. A facility reservation application and a supplemental letter of
explanation have been submitted by the applicant, and a copy of each has been attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The City will provide standard staff support to prepare the facility for the event. The applicant will
be charged the standard resident reservation fee of $25. Additionally, a cleaning deposit, in the
amount of $100, will be collected to help ensure proper clean-up of the park following the event.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST;
Colton First Assembly of God
Contact: Art Navarro, (909) 824-8676
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the reservation request from the Colton First
Assembly of God, for a theater play, to be held at Fleming Park on Saturday, July 29, 2006. Staff
also recommends that this approval be contingent upon the group providing proof of liability
insurance to protect the City.
Attachment
REVIEW TEAM
City Attorney:
City Manager:
Finance Director: 4—
OTHER:
