R-107-06 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 2007 TO FILL A VACANCY OF AN ELECTIVE OFFICE WHEREAS, a vacancy in the elected office of the City Treasurer will be created when City Treasurer Michael J. Williams retires effective August 3, 2006. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Colton as follows: WHEREAS, Government Code Section 36512 provides that vacancies in an elective office may be filled by calling a special election, to be held on the next regularly established election date not less than 114 days from the call of the special election; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 36512 and Elections Code section 1000, the City Council desires to hold a special election on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, for the purpose of filling the anticipated City Treasurer vacancy. BE IT NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby calls a special election to be held in the City of Colton, California on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. SECTION 3. The polls for the election shall be open at 7:00 o'clock a.m. of the day of the election and shall remain open continuously from that time until 8:00 o'clock p.m. of the same day when the polls shall be closed, SECTION 4. In all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. III
