CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 5, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: JEANNETTE OLKO,ELECTRIC GENERAL MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL TIME POSITION OF LINECREW <br />SUPERVISOR FOR THE COLTON ELECTRIC UTILITY <br />DATE: <br />AUGUST 28, 2006 <br />ITEM #7 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Division currently has two line crews to perform <br />daily maintenance and upgrades to our electric system. Each line crew consists of one Line Crew <br />Supervisor, two journey level Power Line Technicians, one Power Line Apprentice, and one <br />Power Line Technician Helper. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Electric Utility has one vacant Line Crew Supervisor position due to promotion of one <br />employee. In order to maintain reliable service to our customers, the Electric Utility is requesting <br />to fill this vacancy. The salary range for this position is $6,369 to $7,740 per month. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The existing vacant position is budgeted for the 2006/07 fiscal year in Account Number <br />520-8000-8004-1010-580-000, Salaries Miscellaneous. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the position of Line <br />Crew Supervisor in the Electric Utility. <br />Prepared by: Lupe G.
