CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 19, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E.; PW DIRECTOR/ CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO SOLICIT BIDS WITH THE INTENT TO SELL <br />FOUR (4) SURPLUS STREET SWEEPERS. <br />DATE: September 12, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On July 18, 2006, Council agreed to award a citywide street sweeping maintenance contract to <br />Clean Street. This agreement will provide for all related street sweeping operations including <br />provision of street sweepers, maintenance for the street sweepers and disposal of debris collected <br />by the street sweepers. The street sweeping maintenance contract awarded to Clean Street <br />replaced the in house street sweeping program which has resulted in a surplus of four (4) street <br />sweeping maintenance vehicles. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Public Works Department is requesting authorization from the City Council to sell four (4) <br />surplus street sweeping maintenance vehicles. Listed below is the make, year and mileage <br />corresponding to each of the four (4) street sweepers: <br />1. Vehicle #146. A white 2003 Elgin Cross Wind; odometer reading of 28,790 miles <br />2. Vehicle #147. A white 2004 Elgin Cross Wind; odometer reading of 29,932 miles. <br />3. Vehicle#800. A white 1997 Johnson 605; odometer reading of 28,528 miles. <br />4. Vehicle #194. A white 1988 Mobil/Athey Sweeper; odometer reading of 28,444 miles. <br />The four (4) street sweepers have an estimated value of approximately $70,000 and Ordinance <br />0-12-03, Section 3.08.150, requires city council approval for their sale. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The authorization of the street sweeping vehicle sale is estimated to have a positive impact on the <br />general fund of approximately $70,000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not applicable. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />None. <br />7/10/03 City Clerk's Office Cb <br />
