CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 3, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: JEANNETTE OLKO,ELECTRIC UTILITY GENERAL MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL TIME POSITION OF ELECTIC <br />UTILITIES INSPECTOR FOR THE COLTON ELECTRIC UTILITY <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric Utility Engineering Division currently has one inspector, the Senior Electric Utility <br />Inspector, to perform all daily electrical inspections on the construction of electrical service <br />facilities for residential, commercial and public works projects. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Electric Utility has one vacant inspector position due to promotion of one employee. In order <br />to maintain the quality and safety of electrical installations within the City of Colton and assure <br />adequate service to our customers, the Electric Utility is requesting to fill this vacancy. The salary <br />range for this position is $5,166 to $6,281 per month. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The existing vacant position is budgeted for the 2006/07 fiscal year in the Engineering Division, <br />Account Number 520-8000-8002-1010-580-000, Salaries Miscellaneous. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the position of <br />Electric Utilities Inspector in the Electric Utility. <br />Prepared by: Mitchell L.
