CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 7, 2006
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Josefina Mendez Kenline, Assistant to the City Manager
SUBJECT: REPROGRAM EXISTING CDBG FUNDING AND
APPROVE RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FY 2006-2007
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET TO
INCREASE THE COOLEY MODULAR PROJECT BUDGET
IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000.
DATE: October 30, 2006
BACKGROUND:
At this time the City has $159,386.00 in unprogrammed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
funds. These monies are a result of various CDBG projects from previous fiscal years that did not
expend the allocated amount. City staff proposes to redesignate the funding to complete an ongoing
Public Works Capital Improvement Project that is within the approved CDBG project areas.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
After reviewing the Capital Improvement Projects, City staff has determined that the available CDBG
funding would best be used to complete the following project:
1. To extend the existing budget for the Cooley Modular Project that will allow for improvements
to the building including: a new handicap ramp, new coat of exterior paint, new fencing and
new skirting along the exterior of the building.
The remainder of the unprogrammed CDBG funding will be addressed at subsequent council
meetings.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This project is funded by CDBG and will have no financial impact on the general fund. An amendment to
the FY 2006-2007 Capital Improvement Program budget will include the following increase:
1) An increase in account 215-0511-6920-3890 (Cooley Modular Project) in the amount of $50,000.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Not Applicable.
