ITEM #4 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />F(1R rr)l Inl(_II M1=FT1M , ()F Nnvnmhar 7 7nnr. <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Establishing Salary Level for the Part-time Staff Position <br />of Library Clerk <br />DATE: October 18, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is a need to fill one (1) part-time Library Clerk position in the Library Division of the <br />Community Services Department. The Library Division has recently relied upon personnel from <br />a temporary agency to fill-in when there has been a shortage of staff due to sick or vacation <br />leave. The recruitment of this position will provide additional customer service to library patrons, <br />and provide valuable technical and clerical support on a regular basis. Because this position <br />classification has been inactive for a period of time, it is necessary to establish an updated <br />salary for the position. The recommended salary level is the result of research conducted by <br />the Human Resources Department. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The salary for the part-time Library Clerk is proposed to be $9.00 per hour. There will be no <br />step increases or benefits associated with this position. It is anticipated that this position will <br />work 20 hours per week. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />There is no general fund impact for this action.
