VERNON AVENUE <br />REHABILITATION PROJECT, RIVERSIDE AVENUE <br />REHABILITATION PROJECT, AND RECHE CANYON ROAD <br />REALIGNMENT PROJECT TO ALL AMERICAN ASPHALT, INC. <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $190249005.29. <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 9, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On August 15, 2006, the City Council authorized staff to solicit bids for the 3-5 Comprehensive <br />Storm Drain Street Rehabilitation Project and Mt. Vernon Rehabilitation Project. The 3-5 <br />Comprehensive Storm Drain Street Rehabilitation Project is a CDBG (Community Development <br />Block Grant) funded project intended for the improvement of West Valley Boulevard. The scope <br />of work for this project includes: grind and removal of two inches of existing asphalt, overlay <br />utilizing two inches of rubberized asphalt, restripe improved roadway, replacement of a damaged <br />traffic signal loop detector, and both reconstruction and widening of the concrete cross gutter <br />located at the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Meridian Avenue. The project begins along <br />Valley Boulevard at the west County limit (east of Hermosa Avenue) and ends 400 feet west of <br />Meridian Avenue. Also included in this project's scope of work is the improvement of the <br />deteriorated roadway at the Rancho Avenue and Valley Boulevard intersection. <br />The Mt. Vernon Rehabilitation Project is a Measure I funded project. This project will rehabilitate <br />Mt. Vernon Avenue from Santo Antonio Drive to the railroad bridge north of `M' Street. This <br />project's scope of work will include: grind and removal of two inches of the existing roadway, <br />overlay of the roadway with two inches of rubberized asphalt, restriping the improved roadway <br />and replacement of a damaged traffic signal loop detector. <br />
