ITEM #16 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 16, 2007 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE FILIING THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR <br />CITY HALL REMODEL PROJECT, PHASE I, III, V, VII, AND <br />VIII. <br />DATE: January 10, 2007 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City Hall Remodel Project Phases I, III, V, VII, and VIII were funded and added to the City's <br />Capital Improvement Program in September 2004 and March 2006. The completed scope of work <br />provides the public a new customer service payment area and new offices for the following <br />departments: Finance, Economic Development, City Manager and City Clerk. The construction of <br />Phase I began in September of 2004. The construction of Phases III, V, VII, and VII began project <br />construction started in April of 2006. Asbestos removal, demolition, electrical wiring, <br />communication wiring, lighting installation and other various small-scale non -specialty jobs were <br />completed by employees from various city departments. Other trade work was contracted out such <br />as: asbestos removal, acoustical/t-bar ceiling, carpet installation, and air conditioning system <br />installation. Kwang Cook and Associates provided the architectural and structural design for this <br />project. Contractors hired to complete parts of the construction phase include: Brickley <br />Environmental, Accurate Acoustics, KD Acoustics, Acoustic Standard, A-1 Budget Glass, New <br />Image Carpeting, CHJ Inc., Wildan Associates, Radix Fire Construction Inc., C & K Engineering <br />and Avis Plumbing and Heating <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />A building inspector has completed a final inspection of Phases I, 111, V, VII, and VIII. The <br />project was formally signed off for completion. City crews will finish up the remaining minor <br />touch-up work. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The proposed public improvements are Exempt under Section 15301 of the California <br />Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />
