On August 1, 2006, City Council accepted the awarded
Article III grant funds, totaling $245,000. In order to mitigate the drainage problem at the project
location, installation of a storm drain was added to the scope of this project.
The proposed improvement will extend 10th Street to intersect with the G Street/Colton Avenue
intersection. The 10h Street /G Street and Colton Avenue intersection currently exists as a "4 way
STOP," where 10th Street runs north and south connecting to G Street on the south side only. At
this intersection 10th Street terminates in the northern direction before it reaches G Street/Colton
Avenue intersection (see Exhibit A).
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The design of this project was awarded to Fraco Enterprises, Inc. The consultant, in collaboration
with staff, has completed the plans, specifications, and construction cost estimate for this project.
This project is now ready to begin the bidding process. Every attempt will be made by the Public
Works/Engineering staff to ensure a wide range of potential bidders are reached through the
advertisement process. The City will advertise in local newspapers and `plan houses,' where
contractors can view the Project's plans, specifications and documents. This advertisement meets
the purchasing requirements for a public project depicted by the City's purchasing ordinance 0-12-
03, Section 3.08.090 (d) and 3.08.090 (e).
