Padilla, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: CERTIFICATION OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD <br />JUNE 5, 2007, IN THE CITY OF COLTON <br />DATE: June 13, 2007 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the January 3, 2007 Council Meeting the City Council adopted Resolution No. R-01- <br />07, Calling and Giving Notice of a Special Municipal Election, to be held in the City of <br />Colton to fill the unexpired term of the elected position of Councilmember/District 3. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The City Council by adoption of Resolution No. R-03-07 authorized the Registrar of <br />Voters the County election department of the County of San Bernardino to canvass the <br />returns of the Special Municipal Election. The canvass was completed on June 14, <br />2007. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The estimated cost for a district three election is $8,218; funds were not budgeted in FY <br />06-07. The invoice for the balance owing is expected by November 30, 2007 and <br />monies have been budgeted in the amount of $10,000 for FY 07-08. The account <br />number this expense will be budgeted in is 100-6010-6010-2401. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends adoption of the attached Resolution, reciting the facts and declaring <br />the results of the June 5, 2007, Special Municipal Election. <br />Attachment: Resolution <br />1 <br />
