Presentations, Awards, Proclamations <br />• Recognition Recreation Services Supervisor Deb Farrar recognized and presented a <br />certificate of recognition to three major contributors to Unity Day, Best <br />Best & Krieger, San Bernardino County Public Health — Healthy <br />Lifestyles, Tom and Judy Clarke, Chili Cook -off Coordinators. <br />• Presentation Patricia L, Nichols and Gerald Brown, of Community Action Partnership <br />and Dan Flores, Field Representative for San Bernardino County <br />Supervisor Josie Gonzales, provided a video and oral presentation on the <br />issue of homelessness in San Bernardino County and the commitment <br />these organization have made to address this challenge. <br />• Proclamation CM Toro read and presented to Tracy Lynn, representative from Second <br />Harvest Food Bank, a proclamation in honor of National Hunger <br />Awareness Day, June 5, 2007. <br />Dan Flores, Field Representative for San Bernardino County Supervisor <br />Josie Gonzales, acknowledged Tracy Lynn. <br />• Introduction Fire Chief Hendrix introduced new staff member Debra Kreske, <br />Emergency Services Coordinator. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Solid Waste Rates <br />This was the Time And Place Fixed To Consider Municipal Solid Waste And Disposal Service <br />Rates For Fiscal Year 2007/2008. <br />Mayor Chastain declared the public hearing open. <br />City Clerk Padilla announced that the Affidavit of Publication for the public hearing was on file in <br />the City Clerk's office and no protests or objections have been received. <br />City Engineer Jakher provided a PowerPoint presentation as part of the overview of the agenda <br />item and requested approval of staff's recommendation. <br />Discussion by the Council followed regarding collection costs and proposed community <br />newsletter to inform citizens. <br />City Manager Parrish explained that the city is more than meeting the state AB 939 mandate <br />and Colton Disposal should be recognized for their work. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />Rick Shield, spoke against the increase and suggested alternatives. <br />Motion/second by CM De La Rosa/Mayor Pro Tempore Suchil to close the public hearing. <br />Motion carried. <br />2007 JUN 05 REG CC/RDA/CUA MEETING - 3 - <br />
