CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF 5EPTEMBEK US, 1UU/ TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: Executive Asst./Council Office Manager Adelfa Flores SUBJECT: Inland Empire Legislative Task Force Appointments DATE: September 10, 2007 BACKGROUND: The Division Board of Directors explored with SANBAG the expansion of their COG status to include regional issues beyond those in transportation. While this effort is still ongoing, the Inland Empire Division Executive Committee felt it significant to reactivate the Legislative Task Force (LTF) to ensure the Inland Empire is appropriately represented. Therefore, the League's Inland Empire LTF is being reestablished. The LTF has not met for the past two years and reactivating this task force will allow us to participate in the implementation efforts of the Division, make regional issue(s) recommendations to the Division Board and provide input on statewide League Board priorities. The League anticipates the LTF meetings will begin in October 2007 and held on even numbered months (February, April, June, August, October and December). Meetings will be held at one of the 15 Inland Empire cities, with the time of day to be determined. By Monday, September 24, 2007, each of the 15 Inland Empire Cities must select one elected official and one staff member to serve as representatives on the Legislative Task Force. The two representatives can be a continuation of those who previously served, or the Council may select new representatives. The previous elected official representing Colton was Council Member John Mitchell.
