ITEM #17 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 20, 2007 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR / CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE THE AWARD OF SHORT FORM CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENTS FOR THE IMPOUND YARD PHASE III PROJECT TO: FISHER CONSTRUCTION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $69,457, AND TO ROSS FENCE COMPANY, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,310.00 DATE: NOVEMBER 08, 2007 BACKGROUND: On November 1, 2005, the City Council approved the construction of the Police Impound Yard on a City owned lot located along Fogg Street, south of "M" Street. In July 2006, the construction of the Police Impound Yard Phase I and II were completed; Notice of Completion was filed on June 06, 2006. These completed phases of the Impound Yard Project have developed approximately two acres of the 3.63 acre parcel upon which the Impound Yard exists. Due to the volume of vehicles the Impound Yard operation is experiencing, it is prudent to complete the Impound Yard Phase III Project. This phase will expand the square footage of the Impound Yard to its parcel lot boundaries. The completed Phase III will fence the entire Impound Yard parcel number 0163-232-24-000. ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: To fence the remaining portion of the Impound Yard parcel the project will require masonry services and chain link installation services. Staff completed the informal bid procedure for these services as required for public projects by the Purchasing Ordinance Section 3.05.090 (b). A Request for Bids (RFB) was forwarded to the following contractors and their responses are listed below: For Masonry Wall Construction: 1. Fischer Construction. $69,457.00 2. Kretschmar & Smith, Inc. $77,420.00 3. Cool Baugh Masonry $77,618.00 4. Pinnacle Masonry, Inc. $91,132.00 5. AG Construction Services, Inc $93,940.00 6. CME.
