CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 20,2007 <br />ITEM #2 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Executive Asst./Office Manager Adelfa Flores <br />SUBJECT: League Request to Support Tom Bradley Commemorative Postal Stamp <br />DATE: November 14, 2007 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At their September 2007 meeting, the League of California Cities Board of Directors unanimously <br />voted to further acknowledge the growing and extraordinary efforts of public and private <br />organizations and individuals throughout California and the United States. The League Board is <br />requesting that member cities participate in this effort by issuing a City Resolution. The attached <br />Resolution is in support of the League's proposal urging the United States Postal Service to issue a <br />commemorative postal stamp honoring the legacy of the late Tom Bradley. <br />In his youth, Tom Bradley was a motivated young man and an outstanding athlete. He graduated <br />from Southwestern University of Law, passed the State Bar Exam and became a Lawyer. His <br />employment career spanned over 21 years with the Los Angeles Police Department and refired as <br />a Lieutenant. As an elected official, Tom Bradley served 10 years as a Los Angeles Council <br />Member and 20 years as Mayor of Los Angeles.
