CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 5, 2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />ITEM #4 <br />FROM: Jeannette Olko, Electric Utility General Manager <br />SUBJECT: Approve Request for Recruitment and Ratification of <br />Employee Appointment to the Full-time Position of Power <br />Line Helper in the Electric Department. <br />DATE: <br />January 29, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric Utility has the ability to train and educate its Power Line Helpers and to advance the <br />Helper into the Apprenticeship Program. This will insure that the Electric Utility will continuously <br />train qualified personnel. The salary range for this position $3,731-$4,534 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Electric Utility has one vacant Power Line Helper position due to a recent promotion and <br />wishes to fill the current vacancy and establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies as they <br />occur. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The existing vacant position is budgeted for the 2007/08 fiscal year in Account Number 520-8000- <br />8004-1010-0580-000, Electric Department/Transmission and Distribution Miscellaneous Salaries. <br />As of January 29, 2008, funds available in this account are $753,767.38. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointments to the full time position of Power Line Helper. <br />Prepared by: Lupe Rubio, Transmission & Distribution Supenntenaent <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />Finance Director: W C <br />City Attorney: <br />IHRDirector:nn1.
