ITEM #7 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 19, 2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: BOB MILLER, CHIEF OF POLICE <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE ACCEPTANCE OF THE FY 2007 HOMELAND SECURITY <br />GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $44,264.00 AND ADOPT BUDGET <br />AMENDMENT <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 11, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On December 31, 2007, the California Governor's Office of Homeland Security awarded <br />the City of Colton Police Department a grant in the amount of $44,264.00 to be used to <br />purchase equipment and supplies that would enhance the Police Department's <br />preparedness to prevent, protect, respond and recover from terrorist threats and attacks. <br />The accompanying Resolution is required to accept this Grant and to amend the budget in <br />the amount of $44,264.00 <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Homeland Security Grant was awarded through a formula process whereby applicant <br />cities were allocated funds based upon population. Applicants submitted proposed <br />e4quipment and supply purchase lists, in furtherance of homeland security preparedness <br />goals, for review and approval. The Police Department's equipment and supply list was <br />approved by the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and was selected to be funded. <br />Funding for the purchases are by reimbursement and do not require matching funds. <br />Approved equipment and suOpplies to be purchased are as follows: <br />Personal protective equipment (ballistic vests with accessories) <br />Battery chargers <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The accompanying Resolution is required to accept this Grant and to amend the <br />2007/2008 Fiscal Budget in the amount of $44,264.00. 225-6070-6078-4930. <br />ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />
