CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 20, 2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REJECT ALL BIDS AND AUTHORIZE TO JOINTLY REBID THE <br />MCKINLEY PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND THE PRADO <br />PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. <br />DATE: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />MAY 8, 2008 <br />McKinley Park is located on a property owned by the Colton Joint Unified School District along <br />Johnston Street. The City and School District have executed a Joint Use Agreement for Facility <br />Use; this agreement was originally executed on May 18, 2000 and amended extending the term of <br />the Agreement on November 15, 2007. The 2007/2008 Capital Improvement Program identifies <br />the McKinley Park Improvement Project will provide for the following improvements: asphalt <br />overlay of existing parking, asphalt overlay on basketball court, striping, provide handicap <br />accessible concrete walkways, replace existing safety surfacing mat, installation of concrete pad <br />for bleachers, and shade structures. <br />Improvements to Prado Park are also identified in the 2007/2008 Capital Improvement Program <br />(CIP) as the Prado Park Improvement Project. This park is located along Prado Lane in Reche <br />Canyon. The Prado Park Improvement Project will address the following needed improvements: <br />installation of playground equipment and safety surfacing mat, installation of handicap accessible <br />concrete walkways, installation 18' Gazebo, and two (2) picnic tables with concrete pads. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />On April 1, 2008, the City Council authorized the joint solicitation of bids for the McKinley Park <br />Improvement Project and the Prado Park Improvement Project. Advertisement of the project <br />started on April 4, 2008 and bids were opened on May 1, 2008. City received bids from six (6) <br />different contractors.
