My work experience, education, and project experience in land use planning dates from 1972, when I graduated from the University of California, Riverside, in urban studies and economics. I have been actively engaged in land planning work since then, serving for a number of local land planning agencies. Agencies I have worked for include the following: County of San Bernardino, Planner and Environmental Analyst. City of Colton, City Planner. City of San Juan Capistrano, Land Use Coordinator, City of Ontario, Deputy City Planner. City of Fontana, Detector of Planning & Community Development. Since 19851 have been engaged in the firm of Gary Mitchell & Associates which provides land planning and environmental services to both private and public sector clients. Awards: Chairman, Advisory Committee to City Council, City of Rancho Cucamonga for the °Foothill Boulevard Specific Plan" , recognized by the inland Section of the American Planning Association as the most outstanding Specific Plan in the inland region for 1988. Directed a multi-disciplinary consulting team that prepared the General Plan for the City of Indio which was awarded the most outstanding General Plan in the State of California, 1995. Organizational experience: member, Baldy View Building industry Association, serving on the Governmental Relations Committee and Scholarship Committee; Chairman, American Planning Association Inland regional planning awards selection committee, 1986-1991; Board member, Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce for 15 years, serving on the Government elation Committee and Chairman of then Economic Development Committee. Personal: 1 reside in Colton with my fiancbe Gloria and have family in the immediate area.
