ITEM #7 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 4,2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIR, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AWARD THE PURCHASE OF THE PLAY EQUIPMENT AND THE <br />SPLASH POND EQUIPMENT FOR THE VETERANS PARK SPORTS <br />COMPLEX PROJECT TO MIRACLE PLAYGROUND SALES FOR AN <br />AMOUNT OF $135,468.76. <br />DATE: October 27, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Veterans Park Sports complex Project is part of the Fiscal Year 2008/2009 Capital <br />Improvement Program (CIP). This project will include the modernization of three <br />baseball/softball fields. These fields will have the following amenities: new lighting, seating, <br />sunken dugouts, backstops and outfield fencing. The park's open space will be provided <br />the following amenities: two small play structures, a picnic area, a splash pond, horseshoe <br />pits, basketball courts, miniature soccer fields, handball courts and renovation of the <br />existing concession building. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Formal bids for the playground equipment and splash pond were received on September <br />15, 2008. The lowest responsive and responsible bidder was Miracle Playground Sales; <br />the bid amounts were $59,343.56 for the play equipment, and $76,125.20 for the splash <br />pond. No other bids were received. <br />Fabrication and delivery of the play equipment will take approximately six weeks, and will <br />be delivered to the project site. Fabrication and delivery for the splash pond will take <br />approximately 10 weeks, and will be delivered to the project site. Once delivered <br />installation for the building will be required. Formal bidding for installation of the equipment <br />has already been advertised, and staff will receive bid results on October 29, 2008. Staff <br />requests authorization to award and purchase the play equipment and splash pond <br />identified in Exhibit "A" and "B" for the Veterans Park Sports Complex Project. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funds for this project are held by trustee and reimbursement will be requested <br />immediately upon disbursement for the purchase of play equipment. <br />
