ITEM #4 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 3, 2009 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE THE AWARD OF A CONSTRUCTION <br />CONTRACT FOR THE CITY WIDE STRIPPING PROJECT TO <br />CHRISP COMPANY., IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,000. <br />DATE: JANUARY 26, 2009 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On December 12, 2008, the Public Works Department staff solicited bids for the City Wide <br />Stripping Project. Public Works staff has identified the following streets for this project: <br />1. Rancho Ave from Louise Street to Olive Street <br />2. Rancho Ave from Valley Blvd to La Cadena Dr <br />3. La Cadena Dr from Citrus St to I-10 <br />4. La Cadena Dr from 1-10 to I-91 <br />5. Valley Blvd from City limit to RR track <br />6. Mt. Vernon Ave from Valley Blvd to Olive PI <br />7. Washington St from I-215 ramp to Cooley Dr <br />8. Barton Rd from Cooley Dr to Waterman Ave <br />9. Reche Canyon from Barton Rd to South City Limits <br />Exhibit A of this report identifies the above locations. The project scope includes installation of the <br />following traffic legends: broken white line, broken white line 45 mph or more, double solid yellow <br />line, two way left turn at centerline, single yellow line, edge solid white line, channeling solid white <br />line on left turns, 6" bike lane white, bike lane intersection line, crosswalk with two line <br />perpendicular to the traffic flow, crosswalk with white longitudinal lines parallel to traffic flow, <br />diagonal and chevron markings, white stop lines, white arrow, left turn arrow, left turn arrow, right <br />turn arrow, turn arrow and through lane arrow, signal ahead, stop sign, speed limit, RR crossing, <br />and bike lane legends. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The public bidding of this project was advertised in local papers and trade journals beginning on <br />December 08, 2008. The bid opening was conducted on January 15, 2009 and staff received formal <br />proposals from four (4) firms, with their corresponding bid amounts as follows: <br />7/10/03 City Clerk's Office Cb <br />
