Sewer System Management Plan <br />City of Colton <br />EA Definitions, Acronyms, and Abbreviations <br />Best Management Practices (BMP): Refers to the procedures employed in <br />commercial kitchens to minimize the quantity of grease discharged to the <br />sanitary sewer system. Examples include, but are not limited to, scraping <br />food scraps into a garbage can and dry wiping dishes and utensils prior to <br />washing. <br />California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS): The State Water <br />Resources Control Board's online electronic reporting system that is used to <br />report SSOs, certify completion of the SSMP, and provide information on the <br />sanitary sewer system. The electronic reporting requirement became effective <br />on January 2, 2008 in Region 8. <br />Capital Improvement Plan (CIP): Refers to the document that identifies <br />future capital improvements to the City's sanitary sewer system. <br />Category 1 SSO: An SSO resulting in a discharge of 1,000 gallons or more; or that <br />results in a discharge to a drainage channel and/or surface water; or to a storm <br />drainpipe that was not fully captured and returned to the sanitary sewer system. <br />Category 2 SSO: All other discharges of sewage resulting from a failure in the <br />sanitary sewer system. <br />City: Means the City of Colton. <br />Closed Circuit Television (CCTV): Refers to the process and equipment that <br />is used to inspect the condition of gravity sewers. <br />County Health: Means the San Bernardino County Department of Health <br />Services. <br />Environmental Compliance Section: Refers to the City of Colton's <br />Environmental Compliance Section, which is part of the Water & Wastewater <br />Department. <br />Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG): Refers to fats, oils, and grease typically <br />associated with food preparation and cooking activities that can cause <br />blockages in the sanitary sewer system. <br />Food Service Establishment (FSE): Refers to commercial or industrial <br />facilities where food is handled, prepared, or served and where food processing <br />wastewater is discharge to the sanitary sewer system. <br />Full-time Equivalent (FTE): Refers to the equivalent of 2,080 paid labor <br />hours per year by a regular, temporary, or contract employee. <br />01 ENVINONMENTAL <br />E-4 June 2009 <br />CCMOLIANCE, ING. <br />.....ice... <br />
