ITEM #9 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE RECORDATION OF A NOTICE OF COMPLETION <br />FOR THE INSTALLATION OF GREY WATER STORAGE SYSTEM <br />FOR VETERANS PARK IRRIGATION SYSTEM. <br />DATE: AUGUST 20, 2009 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Veterans Park Sports Complex Project is part of our CIP (Capital Improvement Program). The <br />Veterans Park Sports Complex Project is contained in a 13.54 -acre park. This project will include <br />the modernization of three baseball/softball fields. These fields will have the following amenities: <br />seating, sunken dugouts, backstops, concession building, and outfield fencing. The park's open <br />space will be provided the following amenities: two small play structures, a splash pad, horse shoe <br />pits, basketball courts, and miniature soccer fields. <br />The water used to service the splash pad amenity will be stored in underground storage tanks to be <br />used for irrigation of the passive park area. This amenity provides a water conservation component <br />to the improved park. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The bid opening for the installation of the grey -water system collector for the Veterans Park <br />irrigation system was conducted on November 20, 2008. On February 17, 2009, a construction <br />agreement was awarded to the lowest responsive bidder, S&S Investment, in the amount of <br />$169,480. <br />The project has been completed satisfactorily within (60) calendar days from the date which the <br />contractor was issued the Notice to Proceed, as per contract. The completed infrastructure will be <br />used for grey water storage and irrigation of the passive park area once the splash pad is open to <br />public. Staff requests authorization to file and record a Notice of Completion (Exhibit A) for the <br />Installation of Grey Water System for the Veterans Park Irrigation System Project. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />
