These locations are Identified in the San Bernardino Valley Coordinated Traffic Signal
System Plan (SBVCTSSP). The project includes signals owned, controlled or maintained by 17 agencies. The SBVCTSSP was prepared In 2000
consisting a total of approximately 1300 signals within the region. Tier 1 & 2 (800 traffic signals) is currently under construction.
e onent Implementing Agency
AA&ED SANBAG
PS&E SANBAG
Right of Way NA
Construction SANBAG
Legislative Districts
Assembly: 59,60,61,62,63
Congressional: 126,41,42,43 Senate: 29,31,32
Purpose and Need
The prknary goal of the project is to Improve travel along high-priority arterlals and realize the air quality, mobility, and safety benefits that will result from
the consequent reduction in vehicle delay throughout the roadway system.
Project Benefits
Various studies and projects over the year have demonstrated that signal coordination does reduce stops, vehicle delays and travel time (by
approximately 15%) A similar reduction In mobile source emissions (ROG, CO and NOx) is also a key benefit of such project. (estimated reduction of
23,0001bs per year of NOx and 29,000lbs of ROG) An additional benefit of signal coordination is a reduction in rear end type accidents, due to the
reduction In number of vehicle stopping at intersections. projected Hours of Travel Delay Saved per Year 7,630,933 and increased average speed from
21 mph to 25rnph over 175 miles of roadway.
Project Milestone Date
Project Stugy Report Approved NA
Begin Environmental PA&ED Phase -moi Oct -08
Circulate Draft Environmental Document Document Type ICE Feb -09
Draft Project Report May -09
End Environmental Phase PA&ED Milestone Jun -09
Begin Design PS&E Phase Ju1-09
End Design Phase (Ready to Ust for Advertisement Milestone Apr -10
Begin Right of May Phase i NA
End Right of Way Phase (Right of Way Certification Milestone T to NA _
.Begin Construction Phase Contract Award Milestone ro Apr -10
End Construction Phase Construction Contract Acceptance Milestone Oct -11
'n Closeout Phase (X Nov -1 t
.
