24atiowl'Dag of'TraMer <br />J&y 69 2010 <br />C Whereas, the National Day of Prayer is a tradition in this country dating back to <br />1775 and on April 17, 1952, the United States Congress approved the Joint <br />Resolution to set aside a National Day of Prayer to honor the religious diversity <br />that our freedom permits; and <br />W wrens, in 1988, the first Thursday in May was permanently chosen as National <br />Day of Prayer; and <br />IMIWS, the history of our nation is indelibly marked with the role that prayer has <br />played in this nation, whereby, our great leaders turn to prayer in times of crisis <br />and thanksgiving; and <br />(U&I'WS, the virtues of prayer reflect a common bond; hopes and aspirations, <br />sorrows and fears, remorse and renewed resolve, thanks and joyful praise, and <br />love; and <br />(Wereas, it is fitting that on National Day of Prayer we join with Americans across <br />the country, representing all faiths and creeds, to unite in prayer to thank God for <br />the blessings we have received and to ask for the wisdom to meet the challenges of <br />the future; and <br />f'M?'WS, in observance of this National Day of Prayer, we call upon the Almighty <br />for continued blessings as we pray for wisdom and compassion in a time of <br />indifference, comfort in a time of grief, understanding in a time of anger, <br />protection a time of uncertainty and thanks for an abundant life. <br />' OIV t.�tCMPM, I Kelly J.
