ITEM NO. 03 <br />STAFF REPORT0'. 00mao <br />DATE: JUNE 15, 2010 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNC <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council: 1) award a maintenance agreement for traffic signal <br />maintenance and emergency traffic signal maintenance to Republic ITS inc. for Fiscal Year 2011 <br />at an annual amount not to exceed $87,120; 2) authorize the City Manager to execute the City's <br />standard maintenance agreement on behalf of the City with any non -substantive revisions <br />approved by the City Attorney. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to improve the City's infrastructure and traffic <br />safety and operation by providing adequate maintenance for the City's traffic signals. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 18, 2006, a contract was awarded to Republic ITS formerly Republic Electric to perform <br />routine and extraordinary traffic signal maintenance services for the City's traffic signals. The <br />existing contract was renewable for up to four (4) renewable terms, with an end date of June 30, <br />2010. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />In accordance with Colton Municipal Code (CMC) Section 3.08.110, Ordinance 0-12-03 the <br />Public Works Department solicited and received proposals for routine traffic signal maintenance <br />and emergency traffic signal maintenance and repair. Two (2) proposals were received from <br />known signal maintenance companies in Southern California. The sealed bid opening took place <br />on March 25, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Corporate Yard Conference Room. The award of this <br />agreement will provide routine maintenance and emergency maintenance call out services for <br />forty-five (45) traffic signals. As bid, the awarded agreement will allow for up to five renewable <br />terms, with a Consumer Price Index adjustment for each renewed term. <br />
