STAFF REPORT <br />ITEM NO. 11 <br />DATE: OCTOBER 5, 2010 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND COUN L M <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: TOM HENDRIX, FIRE CHIEF <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE <br />PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH KINCO WEED <br />ABATEMENT, INC. TO EXTEND THE TERM TO JUNE 30, 2012. <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve the First Amendment to the Professional <br />Services Agreements with Kinco Weed Abatement to extend the term to June 30, 2012. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to provide a comprehensive annual weed <br />abatement program for vacant parcels within the City. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 17, 2007 the City Council approved the award for a five year renewable agreement for <br />weed abatement services to Kinco Weed Abatement for an amount not to exceed $40,000 <br />annually. <br />On July 15, 2009, a Professional Services Agreement ("PSA") with Kinco Weed Abatement Inc., <br />for weed abatement services was executed for a term of one year with an option to renew <br />annually through 2012. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />A term extension is needed to renew the Agreement through June 30, 2012. The extension <br />allows for the continual weed abatement services, for the Spring and Fall Programs. Additional <br />costs will not be incurred without consideration and approval by the City Council. <br />
