STAFF REPORT <br />ITEM NO._3 <br />DATE: APRIL 19, 2011 <br />TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: BILL SMITH, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: BUDGET ADJUSTMENT TO REFLECT RECEIPT OF GRANT AND <br />DONATION FUNDING <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution R-33-11, adjusting the approved <br />budget for fiscal year 2010-11 to reflect the receipt of grant funding for the 226 Middle School <br />After-school Program, and the receipt of recent donations to Luque Center and Thompson Teen <br />Center programs. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to properly account for the receipt of grants and <br />donations. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City has recently received funding from separate sources for after-school programming, and <br />programming at the Luque Center and Thompson Teen Center. <br />The Recreation Division applied for and received an After-school Program Mini -Grant through <br />the Office of the San Bernardino County's Fifth District, in January 2011. This grant is <br />administered through the "Children's Fund." The grant award is $2,000 for use in the Middle <br />School After-school Program for art supplies, as well as health & fitness equipment. <br />Longtime Luque Center benefactor Jeff Neu has donated $2,500 to the children at Luque Center <br />for the purchase of clothing and school supplies, as well as the facilitation of a field trip to the <br />California Science Center. <br />In October 2010, the California Truckers Association held their first "Truckers for Kids" <br />motorcycle ride, designating the Parks & Recreation Foundation as a recipient of event proceeds. <br />Given the history of this organization with long-time Colton benefactor Art Thompson, they <br />
