SOTELO, City Manager <br />Date: April 30, 19 91 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Award of Bid for Pad -Mounted, 3 -Phase Load <br />Interrupter Switches to A.B. Chance Co. in <br />the Amount of $21,177.53 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Colton Electric Department has a requirement for some Pad - <br />mounted, 3-phase load interrupter switches. On April 11, 1991, General <br />Services advertised for sealed bids for this requirement. <br />Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., April 24, 1991, in the General Services <br />office. Five bids were received and evaluated. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM <br />The low bid was received from Cooper Power Systems. Their bid does not <br />meet specifications. Our specification called for an air insulated <br />switch and Cooper Power Systems bid on an oil insulated switch. The <br />second low bid was from A.B. Chance Co. and it meets all of the City's <br />specifications. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />A Bid Analysis is attached for your review, showing prices and delivery <br />quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined. <br />Funds are available. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends bid award for this requirement to A.B.
