STRATTON, CHIEF OF POLICE <br />SUBJECT: Date: 4-23-91 <br />COMMENDATION FOR POLICE K-9 OFFICER JOE GUTIERREZ <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Latino Police Officers Association has established an Officer <br />of the Year Award for recognizing outstanding achievements made <br />by Latino Police Officers throughout the State of California. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: <br />On April 6, 1991, Colton Police K-9 Officer Joe Gutierrez was <br />recognized as Colton Police Department's Latino Officer of the <br />Year. He received certificates of recognition from California <br />State Assemblyman Jerry Eaves, from State Senator Ruben Ayala, <br />and a congratulatory card from United States Congressman George <br />E. Brown, Jr. <br />In May, 1988, Officer Gutierrez was selected as one of the Colton <br />Police Department's K-9 Handlers. In 1989, he received the award <br />for the Most Improved K-9 Team from the Inland Valley K-9 <br />Association. In 1990, Officer Gutierrez received a commendation <br />from the City of Colton for his continued excellence as a Police <br />K-9 Officer.
