T)
F QOM:
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of—OCTOBER 22, 1991
Honorable Mayor and City Council
S. UBJECT
DAVID G. HALL, Fire Chief
PARAMEDIC EQUIPMENT/FIRE
AUTHORIZE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF
Date:October 11, 1991
PHYSIO–CONTROL MONITOR/DEFIBRILLATOR LIFE PAK 10
BACKGROUND:
The Council recently authorized the addition of Paramedics at
Fire Station #3. We are currently in the process of hiring
the individuals who will provide this service. These
individuals will require certain equipment to perform their
job.
DISCUSSION•
The Colton Fire Department uses Physio Control Corp.
monitor/defibrillators exclusively. Physio Control
Corporation is the sole distributor, and the City has always
purchased directly from the Physio Control Sales Department.
Currently, we have two (2) LifePak 51s, and one (1) LifePak
10 models. We purchased the LifePak 10 when Fire Station 4
opened. It is the latest model, with advanced features, and
cost little more than the LifePak 5's already in service.
Batteries for these units are interchangeable. We currently
have a Maintenance Agreement with Physio Control for these
units. When we purchase another unit, it should be totally
compatible with the units now in use, batteries should be
interchangeable, and personnel should be able to use any of
the units without confusion.
Physio Control was called in order to obtain current pricing
on a LifePak 10 unit for Station 3. We were given a price
on a new LifePak 10, without cardiac pacing, as $9085.00,
plus tax. The sales representative made contact with the
department shortly afterward and informed us that he has a
demonstration model, that will be totally refurbished,
tested, and be available with a new unit warranty, for a
price of $7762.50, plus tax. Purchase of the demonstration
Attachments:
Paqe 1 of 2 .. -
Item No.
FII' ►'lG...I:l w./...................r.
