CITY OF COLTON <br />ORDER OF CURFEW AND OTHER <br />EMERGENCY ORDERS <br />WHEREAS, California Government Code section 8634 empowers the Colton City <br />Council or its designated officials to promulgate orders and regulations necessary to provide <br />for the protection of life and property; and <br />WHEREAS, on April 6, 1993, by action of the Colton City Council the Mayor of the <br />City of Colton was designated pursuant to Government Code section 8634 as the official <br />authorized to promulgate orders and regulations necessary to provide for the protection of <br />life and property in the event that conditions arise that threaten the public order and safety <br />; and <br />WHEREAS, those orders and regulations may include imposition of a curfew within <br />designated boundaries where necessary to preserve public order and safety; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Colton does hereby find that conditions have <br />arisen that threaten the public order and safety; to wit: <br />unruly crowds of people committing acts of arson, looting, vandalism, and violence, <br />and disturbing the public peace, in defiance of existing laws and lawful authority; and <br />WHEREAS, a Local Emergency now exists within the City of Colton, which existence <br />has been duly declaryd and published. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority invested in me as Mayor of the City of <br />Colton to promulgate, issue, and will enforce the orders and regulations, pursuant to <br />California Government Code section 8634, I hereby declare the following orders to be <br />necessary for the protection of life and property: <br />1. No person shall be upon any public street, avenue, boulevard, place, alley, <br />park or other public place or unimproved private realty anywhere within the <br />boundaries of the incorporated areas of the City of Colton between sunset and sun- <br />rise on or after the date of this Order. <br />2. No person shall sell or dispense any gasoline or other flammable liquids except <br />for normal filling of motor vehicle gasoline tanks within the boundaries of the <br />incorporated areas of the City of Colton. Gasoline or other flammable liquids shall <br />be dispensed directly into gasoline tanks of motor vehicles, except for licensed tow <br />truck and emergency road service operators. <br />3. No person shall sell or transfer possession of any firearms or ammunition of <br />any type within the boundaries of the incorporated areas of the City of Colton. <br />JHB159789 <br />
