JOHNSON f/ <br />Personnel Director d` - <br />SUBJECT: LIBRARY BRANCH COORDINATOR - APPROVAL OF NEW TOB DESCRIPTION AND <br />SALARY RANGE <br />BACKGROUND <br />Irene Pedroza, Library Assistant II in the Library Department, requested that her position be studied for <br />reclassification under the City's Administrative Policy 4.05.330. The firm of Comp Plus conducted the <br />classification study which revealed that part of Ms. Pedroza's job involved the coordination of the operation <br />of the Luque Branch Library. The consultant felt that Ms. Pedroza's job was appropriately classified as a <br />Library Assistant 11 since the level of responsibility, accountability, decision making, and required knowledge <br />and skills are similar to those of the other two Library Assistant II positions. Subsequently, the City Manager <br />recommended that her position be reclassified to Library Branch Coordinator with no change in salary. <br />Attached is a proposed new job description for Library Branch Coordinator which contains the job duties and <br />qualifications presently found in the Library Assistant II job description plus the following phrase in the <br />"Definition" section of the job description: "may coordinate a small branch facility". A copy of the <br />proposed job description has been provided to Mike Lynd, the SBPEA representative, for his review. <br />The Comp Plus study recommended that all the classifications for the library clerk and assistant classes be <br />reviewed as they have not been revised for many years. We are working with the City Librarian on that <br />project at this time but desired to have the City Council approve this reclassification action at this time. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the attached job description be adopted and the resolution be approved establishing the <br />salary for Library Branch Coordinator, <br />Concur <br />City pager .; r <br />DEC - <br />C:LBRCOORD <br />�)FP ti <br />i <br />
