City Council of the City of Colton <br />Agenda Report <br />To: Mayor and Council Members <br />From: Hani Gabriel, Acting Economic Development Director HWC? <br />Date: July 20, 1993 <br />Subject: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />AUTHORIZING THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR THE CITY OF COLTON <br />TO PROVIDE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN <br />AM/PM MINIMART <br />Backaround <br />A request for financial assistance for construction of public improvements in connection with <br />development of an AM/PM Minimart will be a matter of consideration before the <br />Redevelopment Agency Board this evening. The proposed development is located at the <br />northeast corner of Mt. Vernon and Valley Boulevard, in the Mt. Vernon Corridor <br />Redevelopment Project Area. <br />Discussion <br />Sections 33421 and 33421.1 of Health and Safety Code authorize redevelopment agencies, <br />with the consent of the City Council, to assist in developing a site for commercial use by <br />providing streets, sidewalks, utilities, or other improvements which an owner of the site would <br />otherwise be obliged to provide. <br />The attached Resolution authorizes the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Colton to <br />provide the public improvements for development of the AM/PM Minimart in the form of a <br />$50,000 loan. It is necessary that the City Council approve the attached Resolution prior to <br />Agency approval. <br />Financial Impact <br />There is no financial impact. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached Resolution of the City Council <br />of the City of Colton Authorizing the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Colton to Provide <br />Public Improvements for the Development of an AM/PM Minimart. <br />Report prepared by: Wendy Jo Holland, Project Manager <br />Attachment: Resolution <br />JWy 13, 1893 <br />J 114o- /6 <br />1!> <br />
