City of coltion <br />Fire Battalion Chief (continued) <br />Ability to: (continued) <br />Interact with Department Management Team and committees and be <br />a team player. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. <br />Administer and evaluate suppression, prevention, <br />investigation, emergency medical, hazardous material, <br />communications and training activities. <br />Interpret, implement and enforce department rules, City, State <br />and Federal laws. <br />Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with <br />subordinates, management team members, labor organization <br />representatives and with others encountered in the performance <br />of duties. <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. <br />A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />EXPERIENCE' <br />Five years progressive service as a Captain or higher with the <br />Colton Fire Department, with responsible work experience in <br />fire suppression, prevention, investigation, emergency medical <br />services, hazardous. materials, communications, and labor <br />relations. <br />TRAINING: <br />Equivalent to an Associate of Arts degree with major course <br />work in' fire science, fire administration, public <br />administration or related field. Completion of the course <br />requirements or equivalent for State of California Certified <br />Fire Officer will be considered as meeting this requirement. <br />3 <br />
