f ] CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 1, 1993
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Robert A. Lavin, Water Utilities Manager
SUBJECT: Approval of Agreement with Montecito Memorial Date: May -25, 1993
Park to Allow Temporary Water Services from
the City of Loma Linda
BACKGROUND•
On May 28, 1992 Montecito Memorial Park was issued a conditional use permit for the
construction of a warehouse.
DISCUSSION•
At the May 18, 1993 Council meeting, the Council questioned the need for the City of Loma
Linda to supply water to the warehouse facility being constructed. The following is in
response to the questions by Councils
1. Montecito Memorial Park's water is from a private well which
supplies water for both irrigation and potable water, however,
the well is not sufficient to meet the fire flow requirements for
the warehouse facility as required by the City's Fire Department
2. The recently adopted Five Year Water Master Plan does not call
for the extensionofwater mains to Montecito Memorial Park at
any time within the next five years. The five year period was
removed per Council's request.
3. The cost to extend a water main from the Montecito Reservoir to
the warehouse facility would be $425,000.00
A. 1800 L.F. 12" CMLC $180,000.00
B. Engineering (16%) 5,000.00
C. Booster Station 200,000.00
D. 2" Domestic Service 10.000.00
$425,000.00
The cost to extend the water main on Washington Street to
Waterman Avenue and into Montecito Memorial Park's warehouse
facility would be $526,000.00
A. 1800 L.F. 12" CMLC $211,250.00
B. Engineering (20%) 42,250.00
C. Booster Station 200,000.00
D. 10" Private Fire Line 64,000.00
E. 2" Domestic Line 8.500.00
$526,000.00
4. It is not unusual for water agencies to provide temporary water
services to an area not within their service boundaries, when
the service area water agency is not able to provide that service.
This agreement would not be an infringement on the City of
Colton's jurisdiction.
Attachments:
Page 1 of Item No.
