ACEVEDO, Finance Directo SUBJECT: A.ward of Bid for Various Transformers to Date: February 9, 1993 � General Electric Supply in the amount of $�,978.04, Kuhiman Electric in the Amount of $940 66, Utility Products in the Amount of 2,146.38, WESCO Utility in • the Amount of $2,019.23 and Pawuels Transformers in the Amount of $12,513.01 BACKGROUND Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replaeement transformers are needed. On December 22, 1992, General Services advertised for sealed bids for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., January 20, 1993, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION Seven bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor.. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transforer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer o�er its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calcuZations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost zor each transformer is under- lined. RECOI�IMENDATION Staff recommends bid award to General Electric Supply in the amount of $4,978.04, Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $940.66, Utility Products in the amount of $2,146.38, WESCO Utility in the amount of $2,019.23 and Pawuels Transformers in the amount of $12,513.01.
