T0: <br />FROM: <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of May 4, 1993 <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />David Hall, Fire Chie ' -� <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid Far the Lease Purchase of Date: April 28, 1993 <br />3 Ambulances <br />BACRGROIIND: <br />The General Services Division advertised for bids for three <br />Type III Modular Ambulances on January 14, 1993. Bid opening <br />was held on February 16, 1993, at 2:30 p.m. in the General <br />Services office. <br />Authorization to begin the process to lease purchase <br />ambulances was given by Council action at the Council meeting <br />of March 5, 1992. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Three bids were received and evaluated. The results are <br />shown on the attached Bid Analysis sheet. The low bidder was <br />Sunset Bus and Commercial. However, they did not meet or <br />answer all of the bid conditions set forth in the bid <br />specifications. <br />The next highest bidder was Arata Equipment Company, who did <br />meet specifications at a price of $235.23 per unit above the <br />low bid. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Total Acquisition Cost: $186,888 <br />Lease Purchase Annual Payment: $53,675.17 <br />Lease Term: 4 years <br />Interest Rate: 5.79� <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends awarding the bid to Arata Equipment Company. <br />Although they were not the low bid, a side by side comparison <br />of each vehicle was conducted by staff and the Fire <br />Department Equipment Committee who determined the best value <br />to be Arata. <br />CITY MANAGER'8 CONCURRENCE: <br />Attachments: <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item No. <br />
