Vernon Ave. to <br />Insituform in the Amount of $88,550.00 <br />The sewer lines located in the east side of town are deteriorating and in need of major <br />repairs. The sewer lines are about fifty years old and made of non -reinforced <br />concrete. Television inspection of the subject sewer line shows a serious possibility <br />of collapse. Such occurrences could result in a significant traffic accident on this <br />heavily traveled street. <br />Staff has researched several alternatives for repairing/replacing of sewer mains and <br />the needed traffic control for the alternatives. The Insituform process requires no <br />excavation, except in areas where the line is totally collapsed. The Insituform <br />process also requires little disruption in traffic flow since the streets are not being <br />excavated. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />On March S. 1993 open bids were received for the reconstruction of the sewer line in <br />Mt. Vernon Ave. One bid was received from Insituform in the amount of $88,550.00. <br />Staff has reviewed the bid and recommends the contract award. Insituform has <br />successfully done previous sewer line repairs for the City. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT• <br />Sufficient funds have been budgeted in the FY92-93 budget for sewer line repairs. <br />Staff recommends that Council award the reconstruction of the Mt.
