JOHNSON <br />Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: ADOPT JOB DESCRIPTION AND APPROVE SALARY RANGE FOR UTILITIES <br />PLANS EXAMINER AND CONVERT THE POSITION FROM CONTRACT TO <br />REGULAR <br />BACKGROUND <br />Rex Myers, Associate Plans Examiner in the Public Utilities Department, requested that his position be studied <br />for reclassification under the City's Administrative Policy 4.05.330. The firm of Comp Plus was contracted <br />with to conduct the classification study. The study revealed that Mr. Myers' responsibilities are utility plan <br />checking. The class specification for Associate Plans Examiner describes building plan checking. It is <br />recommended that the position of Utilities Plans Examiner be established with specifications that describe the <br />duties of the position. Mike Lynd, the SBPEA employee representative, has been provided with a copy of the <br />proposed job description. No change in salary is recommended. <br />Additionally, the position is budgeted as a contract position. Mr. Myers has filled the position for the last two <br />years.
