CLARKE, INTERIM WATER & WASTEWATER DIRE OR <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF FOR EMERGENCY ROTATING ELEMENT FOR <br />WASTEWATER IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,270 AND APPROVAL OF <br />SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE FROM GIERLICH-MITCHELL <br />DATE: JULY 23, 1996 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On July 9, 1996 the rotating element for the Lake Cadena Lift Station became inoperable <br />due to its failure. The rotating element is necessary to operate the lift station which lifts <br />the sewage up to the sewer main line. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Gierlich-Mitchell, Inc., are the only suppliers in Southern California for the rotating <br />element. There was a need to immediately replace the rotating element in order to <br />prevent sewage spills. The City Manager and the Finance Director authorized the <br />emergency issuance of a purchase order in the amount of $6,270 for the required parts. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The funds are budgeted in the FY 1996-97 budget in the Wastewater Miscellaneous <br />Capital Equipment Account No. 22-4040-93. <br />C F t(47E7-� <br />Williman Roth, Wastewater Superintendent <br />Staff recommends that Council ratify the emergency purchase of the rotating element for <br />the Lake Cadena Lift Station in the amount $6,270, and the sole source purchase from <br />Gierlich-Mitchell, Inc. <br />Report Prepared By.
