CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 20,1996 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: MALIK FREEMAN, INTERIM CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: THOMAS K. CLARKE, ELECTRIC UTILITY DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF EASEMENT FROM THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE ALONG <br />TRANSMISSION LINE ROUTE FOR NEW "WEST" SUBSTATION <br />DATE: AUGUST 7,1996 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Recently, the Electric Utility built a transmission line from Southern California Edison's substation to the <br />new "West' substation and a loop from that transmission line to our existing Hub Substation. A number <br />of new easements were negotiated and agreed upon between various property owners and the City. A <br />final compensation has been made to most of the property owners. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALV7tlS <br />Coates Field Services, Inc., a subcontractor for Black & Veatch, has provided the original easement <br />signed by the City of Riverside, owner. This section (APN 163-381-07 and 07 section) of the property <br />totals approximately 375 square feet and is located along the transmission route at Congress Street. <br />The total agreed compensation is $375. In compliance With the proper procedure, staff is submitting this <br />easement for approval by the City Council and Will then have it recorded by the County of San <br />Bernardino. <br />ALTERNATIVES - None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The $375 will be paid from the proceeds of the substation bond sale. <br />11�- , ?�, <br />Thomas K. Clarke, Department Director <br />The Electric Utility has been complying with all the environmental concerns related to this project through <br />ENSR, an environmental consultant. <br />Staff recommends that the City Council accept the easement from the City of Riverside along the route <br />pertaining to construction of the transmission line for the new 'West" substation and authorize the <br />Electric Utility Director to sign the Statement of Acceptance. <br />Report prepared by: Nitin Modi, Principal Electrical Engineer <br />Attachments: Easement and Statement of Acceptance <br />Page 1 of I Item No. 4 <br />
