CLARKE, INTERIM WATER 8, WASTEWATER DI <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF EMERGENCY REPAIR TO BLOWER ENGINES AT <br />THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$11,751 AND APPROVAL OF STEWART AND STEVENSON <br />POWER, INC. AS THE SUPPLIER <br />DATE: AUGUST 7, 1996 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On July 30, 1996, the air coolers on the blower engines at the Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant were determined to be inoperable. The air coolers are necessary to operate the <br />blower engines, which are needed to process the sewage. The Wastewater <br />Superintendent contacted Stewart and Stevenson Power, Inc. to make repairs. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />There was a need to immediately repair the blower engines in order to operate the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant. The City Manager and the Finance Director authorized an <br />emergency purchase order for the repairs. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The FY96-97 Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Budget includes funds for the <br />repairs to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Sufficient funds are available in the <br />Wastewater Building and Grounds Account No. 22-4040-25. <br />u <br />Thomas K. Clarke, Interim Water/Wastewater Director <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council concur with the emergency repairs to the Wastewater <br />Treatment Plants blower engines in the amount $11,751, and approve Stewart and <br />Stevenson Power as the supplier. <br />Report Prepared By.
