CITY OF COLTON <br />POLICE DISPATCHER I & II <br />PAGE 3 <br />Work effectively and efficiently under pressure; exercise good judgment and make sound <br />decisions in emergency situations. -- <br />Effectively communicate with and elicit information from upset and irate citizens. <br />Experience and Training: Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the <br />knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Exnerience• <br />Equivalent to completion of high school. <br />Training: <br />One year of clerical experience involving public contact. <br />Police Dispatcher H <br />In addition to the qualifications for Police Dispatcher I: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Department procedures and policies, and those of other agencies. <br />Computer commands used on a computer terminal. <br />Ability to: <br />Follow standard broadcasting rules and procedures. <br />Utilize a wide variety of computer codes and commands. <br />Exercise independent judgment and work with a minimum of supervision. <br />Operate a computer terminal and other office equipment quickly and accurately. <br />Dispatch police units quickly and effectively. <br />Experience and Training: Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
